buddhists: taking a clinical history

In general, no problems are likely to be encountered when taking a clinical history from Buddhist patients beyond normal embarrassment and modesty, especially from the older generation. Most Buddhists will not mind speaking to a male or female doctor, whatever their own gender.

When taking medical notes, ask a patient for their birth name and ordained Buddhist name if applicable, and ask them how they prefer to be addressed.
